Free Resources to Improve Safety

The NCCCO Foundation works to improve safety in the crane industry. The resources provided below are made available to all that are working with cranes in order to help raise awareness of safety hazards and improve their ability to mitigate those risks. We invite everyone to use and share these free resources.

Crane Hazard Safety Awareness Resources:

The NCCCO Foundation developed several free resources to increase awareness of the top safety hazards associated with cranes and potential ways to mitigate them. The resources include posters and social media posts which we encourage others to share with employees. You can access and download the resources here.

Safety Tools:

In collaboration with the National Safety Council (NSC) Work to Zero program the NCCCO Foundation developed two free safety tools available for use by the crane and rigging industry. The tools are located on separate websites and can be accessed 24/7. A description of the tools and links are provided below.

  1. Crane Operations Jobsite Safety Controls ToolThis tool offers a list of controls tailored to address the most significant hazardous situations contributing to serious incidents and fatalities (SIFs) within the crane industry. The list was compiled by searching relevant safety literature and collecting feedback from subject matter experts and practitioners in the crane industry. The controls provided are general recommendations and should be thoroughly evaluated to determine their suitability within your own organization. Access the online tool here.  (A webinar recording reviewing the tool, how to use it, and common safety hazards is available here.)
  1. Organizational Safety Gap Analysis Tool – This assessment is designed to help you identify gaps and opportunities for improvement in your current systems, practices, and culture to prevent serious incidents and fatalities (SIFs) in the workplace. This tool is based on the National Safety Council’s SIF Prevention Model. Access the online tool here. (A short video explaining how to use the gap analysis tool is available here.)
