Standards Setting

Commitment to Standards

The NCCCO Foundation participates in a variety of standards-setting activities, both nationally and internationally, including those of the following organizations:

Workcred

The mission of Workcred, an affiliate of ANSI, is to strengthen workforce quality by improving the credentialing system, ensuring its ongoing relevance, and preparing employers, workers, educators, and governments to use it effectively.  Its vision is a labor market which relies on the relevance, quality, and value of workforce credentials for opportunities, growth, and development.

The NCCCO Foundation serves on Workcred’s Credentialing Body Advisory Council.

Credential Engine

Credential Engine is a non-profit organization whose mission is to create credential transparency, map the credential marketplace, increase credential literacy, and empower employers, educators and candidates to make more informed decisions about credentials and their value.  Credential Engine’s web-based Credential Registry is designed to house up-to-date information about all credentials, a common description language to enable credential comparability, and a platform to support customized applications to search and retrieve information about credentials.

NCCCO was selected to participate in the Credential Registry pilot program, and the NCCCO Foundation serves on the Certification and Licensure Advisory Group (CLAG)

ANSI International Policy Advisory Group – IPAG

The International Policy Advisory Group (IPAG) provides views and proposes policies regarding regional and international standards and conformity assessment issues, including related public policy issues. The IPAG responds to requests for input from time to time from the Board, Executive Committee, committees of ANSI, Forums and other PAGs.

International Accreditation Forum -- IAF

The International Accreditation Forum, Inc. is the world association of Conformity Assessment Accreditation bodies and other bodies interested in conformity assessment in the fields of management systems, products, services, personnel and other similar programs of conformity assessment.

The NCCCO Foundation attends these meetings where it is often the sole representative of the certification organization community.
